NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming has been very much in demand in recent years, largely having been popularised by Paul McKenna on TV and Radio. In everyday practice, a skilled Practitioner of NLP can achieve rapid and lasting results with a minimum of intervention. Moreover, the whole process can be great fun.

What is NLP?
NLP is simply a collection of techniques and processes designed to assist a client in making positive changes. NLP was devised by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1960’s – Richard was a computer programmer, and John a linguist. They studied the techniques and behaviours of leading pioneers of the time, such as Family Psychologist Virginia Satir, and the “Father of Hypnosis”, Milton Erickson. Their findings form the foundation of NLP.

The purpose of NLP is to empower the client to find solutions to every day problems such as anxiety, low motivation, low self-esteem, bad habits and behavioural problems. NLP involves the client gaining mastery over their own mind, resolving inner conflict, and releasing negative programming from the past.

This may be likened to reprogrammimg a computer - hence the word “programming” in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

NLP

The “Linguistics” of NLP is to do with hypnotic language patterns, which enable the practitioner to engage the client’s unconscious mind in a totally waking state.

NLP also enables us to make use of the mind-body connection, for example when working with someone who wants to stop smoking, we can change a craving for a cigarette into a powerful aversion to smoking.

What’s involved in a typical Session?
Sessions will vary in length from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the individual. Each session is different because it is tailored very much to the individual. Most of the work is done conversationally – in other words, whilst we’re chatting or doing a visualisation exercise, positive change is taking place at a deep unconscious level. So the client is always conscious, and always in control.

Who is the Practitioner?
Jay Dudley is a certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of NLP, which she has been using in conjunction with hypnosis and Time Line Therapy since qualifying 20+ years ago.
